However a burning oil smell may or may not be related, I don't believe any of the CCV hoses which may have failed are near exhaust components. 9 posts ยท Joined 2005. #1 ยท Apr 22, 2008. I had a service brake light come on. This caused me to look under the hood. I noticed some oil on the engine. A BMW mechanic looked at it and said it was the head gasket. Once the mechanic went to change the head gasket, he discovered the leak was caused from the heads of 2 aluminum bolts had broken off. Use a jack to lift the knuckle on the strut until the alignment mark on the knuckle and strut meet. After that, position the ABS bracket in place and reinstall the pinch bolt. Thread on the nut by hand before counter-holding it and torquing the bolt to 81Nm. Use an 18mm socket and wrench for the nut and bolt head. Position the jack under the oil pan. Stand a 2 x 4 piece of wood vertically, that's about 6 to 8" in height, on the jack pad. Position the top part of the 2 x 4 on the oil pan and jack the engine up about 2" or so. All you need to be able to do is slide the old engine mount out and put the new engine mount in. Nov 6, 2012. #25. Re: Engine Mounting - replacement - BMW E90. Try to change it with the transmission mount as well, and maybe other wear and tear parts for preventative maintenance while they are at it. Quite a bit of labour involved, since they have to disconnect quite a few things at the bottom of the car, to get at the mounts. An easier solution would be to sell the car and buy another car with the desired power. Yes, motor will fit. Trans gearing will be fine, diff gearing can be changed as well. I'm not looking for the easier solution, I had the car with the motor I'd like to swap into my e90. Brilliant, monster of a motor. 1281 code returns after clearing faults and attempting to start. I have tested every pin in the DME harness connector. - Good voltage at all coils and injectors. - Good voltage at always-hot pin and key-switch pin (when switched) - Good grounds. - Good fuel pump activation. I suspected a bad CKP sensor and replaced it. WDnOl.
