TheGears Horde analogy doesn't really work as it's so different. Often in AC, it's hard to tell the difference between optional and required quests. Let's say 50% of the AC quests were required and 50% were optional (I don't know the actual split), and you need to do 20% of those optional quests to keep up.

Assassins Creed Origins - an amazing world to explore, but the gameplay bores me. I've played a lot of Assassin's Creed games over the years and I've liked every one I've played for the most part, even if I've liked some better than others. 3)Mad-Hatter is like an expanded version of the scarecrow side mission from asylum and it is really well done. 4.)Shiva is basically a set of three combat encounters with ninjas. 5.) Deadshot begins with a crime scene investigation, then a boss fight which is the same as the Catwoman-Two face bossfight from City. 6.)Riddler is boring in origins.

Brotherhood is where the side content is loaded. Revelations drops it by a quite a lot but still has more than AC2 at least.
Hi I've spent the past few days constructing a quest order for the entire of Assassin's Creed: Origins. I am sure many of you will be wondering as to the point of it all, but for me I really enjoy creating the "best" narrative in my games. and then I would do every/most side missions before doing the second/final main quest mission of the
